11TH AGTS 2025

Africa’s heavy reliance on grain imports, particularly wheat and rice, exposes the continent to global price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions.

Events like the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions have highlighted the risks associated with this dependency. The billions spent annually on grain imports represent missed opportunities to invest in local production and trade systems.

The 11th AGTS, themed “Resilient grain markets: Unlocking Africa’s food security potential”, emphasizes the need for robust systems to withstand shocks, adapt to climate change, and meet growing demand sustainably and inclusively.

The Summit will seek to address critical barriers to efficiency, investment, and food security by showcasing innovations, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and advocating for harmonized trade policies and investment incentives. It will aim to inspire actionable commitments that will transform Africa’s grain value chains, driving productivity, reducing losses, and enhancing trade.
