Thematic Areas for Submission

Submissions should address one or more of the following thematic areas:

Building resilient grain value chains.

  • Strategies for adapting grain production to climate change.
  • Innovations in reducing post-harvest losses and improving storage.
  • Enhancing productivity and sustainability through mechanization and precision agriculture.

Financing the grain sector.

  • Unlocking investments in grain value chains through public-private partnerships.
  • Innovative financing models for smallholder farmers, traders, and processors.
  • Risk-sharing mechanisms to enhance access to credit and insurance in grain markets.

Enhancing regional trade

  • Addressing non-tariff barriers and harmonizing trade standards for grains.
  • Leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to boost intra-African grain trade.
  • Promoting cross-border grain trade through logistics and market information systems.

Policy and institutional reforms.

  • Strengthening grain sector governance through policy alignment and institutional frameworks.
  • Role of governments in fostering enabling environments for grain trade.
  • Case studies of successful policy interventions in grain markets.

Innovations in grain marketing and distribution

  • Emerging technologies and business models in grain distribution and retail.
  • Role of digital tools in improving market access and transparency.

Achieving inclusive growth in grain markets

  1. Gender and youth inclusion in grain value chains.
  2. Social equity in grain trade policies and market practices.
  3. Empowering marginalized communities through participation in grain markets.

Submission requirements:

  1. Abstract submission- Submit an abstract of 300–500 words summarizing the objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications of the paper.
  2. Full paper requirements. Length: 3,000–5,000 words (excluding references and appendices).
  • Format: Microsoft Word, Book Antiqua, 12-point font,double-spaced.
  1. References: Use APA style for citations and references.
  2. Submission deadline:

Abstracts due: May 30, 2025

Notification of acceptance: June 30, 2025

Full papers due: July 15, 2025

Language: Papers should be submitted in English.

Submission method: All submissions should be emailed to agts@eagc.org with the subject line: “AGTS 2025 paper submission.”

Selection process – Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts based on the following criteria:

  1. Relevance to the summit theme and objectives.
  2. Originality and quality of research or analysis.
  3. Practical applicability and potential impact on Africa’s grain markets.
  4. Clarity and coherence of presentation.

Selected papers will be featured in summit sessions, with opportunities for authors to present their findings and engage with stakeholders.
