Stella Simiyu Wafukho

Stella Simiyu Wafukho is a director with CropLife Africa Middle East, responsible for Regulatory Affairs and Stakeholder Relations. She engages with regulators, policy makers and other agriculture industry players on actual policy issues critical to ensuring farmers’ access to quality crop protection products and related technologies in the region in the context of sustainable agriculture. Her docket also involves capacity building to support the development of science based regulatory policy frameworks.

In her career path she has supported access and adoption of new agricultural technologies by smallholder farmers in Sub Saharan Africa, in identifying, alongside with national and regional partners, policy and legislation constraints to access, development and deployment of technologies in the areas of biosafety, biofertilizers, pesticides, including biopesticides, as well as other agricultural technologies. She has also supported African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resource (AU-IBAR) /United States Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA – FAS) programs to enhance African countries’ participation in CODEX activities targeting food safety. Served as a co-focal point representing Business & Industry (B&I) Major Group representatives interfacing with UN Environment in Nairobi, with special focus on UNEA and its Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and co-chair of the Global Business Alliance for Environment. Stella has a firm understanding of multidisciplinary policy issues related to agricultural development in Sub Saharan Africa and other developing regions.

The 8th AGTS will  look to find solutions for the missing pieces of the grain trade puzzle and attempt to come up with an action plan to deliver more and better grain trade on the continent.
